Filthy Studios Code of Conduct

Filthy Studios is built on respect, creativity, and community. Whether you’re here to tie, shoot, create, or connect, everyone must uphold these values:

Respect is Non-Negotiable

  • Treat everyone with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • No discrimination or harassment will be tolerated.
  • Respect all boundaries—verbal, physical, and emotional.
  • All attendees have the right to have their gender identity and sexuality recognized. Use the pronouns and words of identity others choose. If unsure, politely ask. Intentional misgendering is unacceptable.

Consent is Foundational

  • Always ask before engaging in physical touch, including demonstrations.
  • Stop immediately if consent is withdrawn. When in doubt, pause and clarify.
  • Attendance at this event does not imply consent to engage in any contact or activity with others. Consent must be obtained in advance and may be revoked at any time.

Privacy is Paramount

  • Do not photograph or record anyone without explicit consent.
  • Respect others' privacy—everyone deserves to share their story on their own terms.

Care for the Space

  • Respect the studio, its equipment, and others' belongings.
  • Please clean up after yourself and leave the space as you found it.
  • Report any damage or safety concerns immediately.

Accountability Matters

Filthy Studios is a community-centered space. Bookings are subject to our code of conduct. If we receive reports of behavior that goes against our values and Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to cancel future bookings and refund if necessary.

Health & Safety Guidelines (Updated Regularly)

  • COVID-19: Rapid testing before attending is recommended.
  • Symptom-Free Policy: Do not attend if experiencing respiratory symptoms like coughing, sneezing, or sore throat.
  • Masking:
    • General events: Masks are welcome but not required.
    • Mask-mandatory events: KN-95 (or better) masks are required and must be worn indoors at all times. Masks are available if needed.

Accessibility

  • Airflow: HEPA filters, fans, and (during mask-required events) an open garage door ensure ventilation.
  • Building Access: The main entrance has one small step (5.25") ; a step-free alternative is available through the garage door in the front. 
  • Backyard: There is a step down to the backyard (aprox 6.5"). A ramp is available upon request. The gravel landscaping may be difficult for wheelchairs or heels.
  • Restrooms: The bathroom is small (35.5" wide, 21.5" from front of toilet to wall, 24" door way). It has grab bars but is not ADA-compliant.

Arrival & Late Policy

Doors open 15 minutes before the event. Late arrivals may not be accommodated, and refunds will not be issued if you miss the start time.

Substance-Free Policy

Educational events are strictly no-alcohol and no-drug. Some social events may allow BYOB, as noted on event pages. Intoxicated attendees will be turned away.

Return & Refund Policy

  • No refunds for no-shows or late arrivals.
  • If illness or emergencies arise, contact info@filthystudios.com immediately. Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Participant Care

Some activities can be emotionally or physically intense. If you need aftercare or support following an event, reach out to us for resources.

Food & Beverages

Please eat beforehand. We provide bottled water and light snacks, such as granola bars and fruit snacks.

Transportation & Parking

The venue address will be emailed 24 hours before the event. Parking is limited, but we're near Fruitvale BART in Oakland, which has a parking lot.

Pre-Event Communication

Registered attendees will receive an email at least 24 hours before the event with final details. If you don’t receive it, contact info@filthystudios.com.
